Custom Glassine Paper: FDA-Compliant, PFAS-Free, Printed to Your Brand: Sheet by Sheet.

When a customer unwraps your product, the paper in their hands is still speaking for your brand. Plain glassine does the functional job. Custom glassine paper from Print On Papers does the functional job and the branding job at the same time and it does both without sacrificing food-contact compliance, grease resistance, or shelf integrity. We print FDA 21 CFR-compliant, PFAS-free custom glassine paper for bakeries, delis, food brands, pharmaceutical packagers, archival suppliers, and specialty retailers. Every sheet is printed in-house. No brokers. No resellers. No markup between our press and your stockroom.

What Glassine Paper Actually Is and Why the Material Matters

Glassine is not wax paper. It is not greaseproof paper. It is its own category of packaging substrate, and understanding what it is explains why it performs the way it does.Glassine is manufactured through supercalendering, a controlled process of passing wood pulp paper through a series of heated, polished steel rollers under high pressure. This densifies the cellulose fibres, compresses the surface to a very low porosity, and creates the semi-translucent, ultra-smooth sheet that glassine is known for. The grease and moisture resistance comes from the fibre density itself, not from an added coating. That is the key structural difference. Uncoated glassine is naturally resistant to oils and light moisture, which is why it can meet FDA 21 CFR requirements for direct food contact when produced under compliant conditions without requiring an additional barrier layer. When greater heat-sealability or moisture barrier performance is needed, Print On Papers applies PE (polyethylene) or silicone coatings to the base glassine sheet, each manufactured for a specific end application.

Three Glassine Grades We Print

  1. Uncoated supercalendered glassine is the baseline grade. Grease-resistant by construction, acid-free, pH-neutral, and fully recyclable at the end of life. Suited for bakery wrapping, deli paper, interleaving, and archival tissue applications where recyclability matters.
  2. PE-coated glassine has a polyethylene layer applied to one or both sides, adding heat-sealability and a significantly stronger moisture barrier. Used in pharmaceutical pouching, specialty food wrapping where liquid contact is possible, and any application requiring a hermetic or near-hermetic seal.
  3. Silicone-coated glassine (release liner grade) carries a food-grade silicone layer that creates a non-stick, release surface. Standard in baking applications, pan liners, pastry separation sheets, confectionery wrapping, and in label and adhesive liner applications where controlled release is required.

Industries and Applications

Bakeries and pastry operations use silicone-coated glassine for pan lining, pastry paper, and product separation. Delis and sandwich counters use uncoated glassine for wrapping and display lining. Food brands and manufacturers use PE-coated glassine for portion wrapping where moisture control is critical. Pharmaceutical packagers use PE-coated glassine for blister pouching and interior wrap applications that require validated, FDA-compliant food-contact materials. Archival and fine art suppliers use acid-free, pH-neutral uncoated glassine for interleaving prints, photographs, and documents where long-term material stability matters. Specialty retailers, confectionery, gifting, and cosmetics use printed glassine for branded wrapping tissue that communicates product quality at the point of unwrapping.

Yes, every food-contact grade meets FDA 21 CFR direct food-contact standards.

Is it PFAS-free across all glassine grades?

Yes, all glassine grades including uncoated, PE-coated, and silicone-coated are PFAS-free.

Can you print my logo in full color on glassine?

Yes, we offer CMYK full-color and Pantone-matched printing on every order.

What is the difference between glassine and wax paper?

Glassine paper achieves resistance through fibre densification, while wax paper uses an applied coating layer.
